Senator Heineken Lokpobiri’s recent visit to Amal Tech Limited highlights the government’s progress in tackling oil theft and pipeline vandalism. The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources praised the increase in oil production from 1 million to 1.7 million barrels per day, including condensate, as evidence of the country’s improved fight against these issues. Lokpobiri emphasized that while progress has been made, the goal remains to reach 2 to 2.5 million barrels per day.
During his visit, Lokpobiri commended Amal Tech Limited for its advancements despite receiving limited support from the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board. The company, initially focused on smoke and gas leak monitoring devices, has expanded to develop electricity meters and pipeline surveillance systems, which are crucial for reducing oil theft and protecting infrastructure.
Shehu Tijjani Abdullahi, the Managing Director/CEO of Amal Tech, acknowledged the government’s support and highlighted the company’s use of reverse engineering technology to decrease reliance on foreign imports. The company’s pipeline surveillance systems are seen as a significant contribution to safeguarding Nigeria’s critical infrastructure.
