Senator Monday Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Edo State, has promised to offer interest-free loans to traders if elected governor. This pledge was made during his campaign on August 29, 2024, at Cook Road in Benin City, where he addressed members of the New Building Materials Sellers Association. Okpebholo also promised to support the construction of the association’s secretariat on land donated by the late Oba Erediauwa II.
During the campaign, Okpebholo emphasized the importance of traders in the economy and vowed to provide these loans to support their businesses. He assured voters that he would not mismanage public funds and urged them to vote for APC on September 21, promising that his administration would bring tangible benefits to the people of Edo State.
Matthew Urhoghide, the Director General of the APC Campaign Council, accompanied Okpebholo and highlighted the candidate’s commitment to fulfilling his promises. Urhoghide reassured the traders that Okpebholo’s campaign is focused on improving the lives of Edo residents.
In a separate engagement with the Idumu Ewase Community, Okpebholo criticized his opponent, Asue Ighodalo of the PDP, suggesting that Ighodalo would be influenced by his political mentor, Governor Obaseki. Okpebholo again urged the community to support APC in the upcoming election to ensure that they receive the promised benefits
