Chief Olabode George, a member of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has declined to serve on the newly inaugurated Disciplinary Committee. George stated that the committee’s formation does not address the pressing need for internal reconciliation within the party.
The PDP’s National Working Committee (NWC), led by acting National Chairman Umar Damagum, inaugurated both a reconciliation and a disciplinary committee on Tuesday as part of efforts to address the ongoing crisis within the party.
In an appearance on Arise TV Morning Show on Friday, George criticized the formation of the committees, asserting that they are not the solution needed at this time. He expressed his reluctance to serve under the Chairmanship of Chief Tom Ikimi and suggested that the root cause of the party’s crisis, particularly the emergence of Atiku Abubakar as the Presidential Candidate in 2023, remains unresolved.
George advised the party’s leadership to focus on resolving internal conflicts before establishing new committees. He emphasized that meaningful dialogue and consensus among party leaders are essential for overcoming the current challenges and achieving genuine reconciliation.
